JROBOTS Battles

So the first off-line challenge came to an end. This new kind of tournament was forced by the new policy of SourceForge about server-side scripts.
I think that to focus the matches on updated jrobots was a good idea. In fact, as you can see, only updated jrobots were effectively promoted, first of all because they reach the requested percentages, but no other was, even if some achieved better results. Let's see if this new rule will increase the jrobots improvements.
Among the three updated jrobots, Hellfire, Yoda and ELECTRON, the best is Hellfire. It achieved good percentages in all the three categories. Yoda and ELECTRON got specular results: Yoda is better in single mode, but its behavior in team mode is very poor. ELECTRON is more regular instead.
If any updates will be sent, we'll see if these jrobots really deserve the Veterans' League.
Finally, there are bad news for Morpheus, Lazi, and Rook. They haven't reached the requested percentages to survive. That is not surprising for Rook because it was the same Rook included in the SDK. Now that jrobots are sent by email this kind of nice jokes finally comes to an end.

Now you can send by email your jrobots to win the November 2005 JROBOTS Challenge (end date by November 12th 2005) aka The Second Official Off-line Challenge!

October 23rd 2005

JROBOTS Battles I played several matches of the first off-line challenge and there are good news for the 3 updated jrobots: ELECTRON, Hellfire and Yoda were promoted to the Veterans' League. The complete results with a few comments will be published soon in the Hall of Fame page. In the meantime everyone can read the final results visiting the Cadets' League Arena page.

The 3 updated jrobots will prove their real value fighting against the old aged veterans during the course of the next challenge:
The next tournament will be the November 2005 JROBOTS Off-Line Challenge (Submit your jrobots by email before November 12th 2005) aka The Second Official Offline Challenge!

October 16th 2005

JROBOTS Battles Finally the first JROBOTS Off-line Challenge is going to start.

The updated jrobots sent (by email) to the Cadets' League are:

  • __ELECTRON_ by Novak
  • __Hellfire_ by Alan
  • __Yoda_ by Wes

No updated jrobots in the Veterans' League so only the matches of the Cadets' tournament will be played.

The results will be available on October 23rd. I hope that all the new jrobots are going to be promoted in the Veterans' League. Good luck!

October 2nd 2005

As you may guess, the September On-Line Challenge was cancelled because of the know server problems that hit JROBOTS recently.
I'm still looking for a good free hosting service with CGI support that could run the on-line tournaments but I had very little luck. I asked to very good quality hosting services related to gaming, such as SimGames.com and others, but they said that JROBOTS has too few pages about games to generate enough visits for their banners... sigh! A lot of time has passed since people asked to host JROBOTS as happened with CFWweb.net in 2000 :(
However let's try to keep things moving a little more. I've recently received by email an update of ELECTRON, so I'm going to run an October Off-Line Challenge at least for Cadets (where ELECTRON is now after the August Challenge). If anyone wants to update his jrobots, please send them by email at tetractys@users.sourceforge.net before October 15th. The tournament will run on my computer, within a week the results will be published and some cadets promoted according the usual rules.

The next tournament will be the October 2005 JROBOTS Off-Line Challenge (Submit jrobots before October 15th 2005) aka The First Official Offline Challenge!
