NEXT CHALLENGE
JROBOTS FOREVER Challenge (from January 6th 2010)
aka JROBOTS FOREVER!
Rules
The challenge will start on January 6th (at about 3 PM GMT): the statistics will be reset and the robots will fight to win the JROBOTS FOREVER Challenge.
During the challenge you can update your old robots (in both Veterans' and Cadets' League) and even send new robots in the Cadet's League.
The challenge will last forever .
The matches are chosen by the Battle Applet using a weighted algorithm: every time a match ends, the applet computes the placing list; in the next match the first robot is chosen with a probability proportional to its percentage, then the others robots (one for single and bouble, three for team play) are chosen with a probability proportional to the difference of their overall victory percentages (read the January 2002 NEWS for details about this new selection strategy).
At the end one or more robots will have the largest number of matches played, say N. The winners of the three categories will be the robots with the best victories/matches percentage and at least N/4 matches played.
In the Veterans' League, the robots below the 50% in Single and Double play and below the 25% in Team play (first four placed apart) will be degraded to Cadets.
In the Cadets' League, the robots above 50% in Single or Double play or above 25% in Team play (at least two must fit - except when the negative category is in the demotion area) will be promoted to Veterans, while the robots below the 25% in Single or Double play or below the 12.5% in Team play (at least two must fit - first four placed apart - except when the positive category is in the promotion area) will be removed from the arena.
The name of the winning robots will be recorded in the Jrobots Challenges Hall of Fame (here).
Good Luck!

The fourth-quarter Challenge of 2009 (2K9Q4) is going to introduce a revolution: The JROBOTS FOREVER Challenge. After a decade on monthly challenges, the next tournament is going to last FOREVER. Only periodic maintenance, removing hill behaved jrobots or too weak jrobots, is going to be performed.
Now the results of the last old-style challenge:
The demoted veterans are: Bohan, KillJoy, Mouth, Stately, Tinker, DOOM, HellFire.
The survivors are: Multiple (6-5-8), Starkle (5-6-6), IonStorm (4-3-4), StrangeMatter (3-2-3), Spike (2-4-1), Tango (1-1-2).
For what regards the Cadets, to prepare for the FOREVER challenge, the jrobots that didn't reach the requested percentages to survive in at least two categories were removed. They are: Bubuleja and the JB series.
Now you can upload your jrobots to win the JROBOTS FOREVER Challenge (from January 6th 2010) aka JROBOTS FOREVER!
